Annual winter route surveys of mammals were held in the Komsomolsk nature reserve from February 17 to 20. More than 90 kilometers in the taiga during these days were overcome by the reserve staff together with students of the ASUHP from the team of the "Nizhneamursky ecological inspection".
"This year, according to preliminary data, there is a decline in the number of wild boar in the reserve. This may be due to the low acorn harvest in 2019. But on one of the routes, in the coniferous forest, traces of musk deer were found in large numbers, which was noted on the protected areas earlier only in 1997, " comments Vadim Bobrovsky, an expert in environmental monitoring.
The number of other animals is relatively stable. Detailed results will be available after in-house processing of field data.
