For the past five years, the Department of Literature and Russian as a Foreign Language has been organizing Literary Salons as a form of student engagement. During the 2024–2025 academic year, five such events were held. On June 3, students from the POryal-11 group held the final Literary Salon of the year, titled "Everything Begins with a Fairy Tale...". The event took place under the guidance of Associate Professor Anastasia Viktorovna Yakimova as part of the study of the "Children's Literature" course. The audience included professors and students from the Faculty of Philology and Cross-Cultural Communication. Students of philology demonstrated their knowledge of the subject through a theatrical performance about the re-education of a little heroine with the help of fairy tales. First-year students showcased a variety of talents: they wrote the script, designed vivid costumes representing characters from both Russian and foreign fairy tales (The Little Prince, the Mad Hatter, the Princess, the Rabbit, the Learned Cat, etc.), and managed the technical aspects of the performance. A particularly engaging part of the event was a quiz for the audience, also prepared by the students. It not only tested the guests’ knowledge, but also clearly demonstrated the first-year students’ grasp of the history and theory of children’s literature.

On December 26, 2022, the "Literary Lounge of the 19th Century" was held at the Faculty of Philology and Intercultural Communication. 3rd year students of the PORYAL-31 group and 4th year students of the PORYAL-41 group, under the guidance of Ph.D., Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Literature E.E. Zharikova and Associate Professor of the Department of Literature R.Y. Kuchinsky completed the course "History of Russian Literature of the 19th century – I and II half" with reporting event. The coming of the New Year with its fabulous, mystical atmosphere has captured the actors and the audience, students and teachers of FPIC. N.V. Gogol, M.Y. Lermontov and F.M. Dostoevsky appeared in a strange and fascinating act, composing a New Year's greeting to Emperor Nicholas II. The critic D.I. Pisarev was visited by ghosts – Tatiana Larina, Katerina Kabanova and Olga Ilyinskaya, offended by his articles. Then there are the heroes of various classical works of 19th-century Russian literature (G. Pechorin, R. Raskolnikov, Manilov, and others) turned out to be participants in an Agatha Christie-style investigation conducted by Erast Fandorin. It all ended, as befits a New Year's Eve party, with an extraordinary fortune-telling on "literary cards." The students' performance was remembered for its excellent directing and acting work. But most importantly, it showed that future teachers of Russian language and literature had mastered the educational material perfectly.
